Joseph Michael Komlos, 76, of Moultonborough, passed away on Saturday August 30, 2014, at the Mountain View Community in Ossipee, NH. Joseph was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 10, 1938. He was the eldest son of Michael and Anna (Guman) Komlos. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Doane) Komlos of Moultonborough, NH, his daughter, Kathleen Komlos Knapp and her husband Ted of Southbury, CT; 2 brothers, Robert Komlos and his wife Kathy of Huntington, CT and Michael Komlos of Milford, CT; several nieces, great nieces and great nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his parents. Joseph grew up and attended school in Bridgeport, CT. After school he worked as a mechanic and enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve in 1957. He was called to active duty in October 1961 and served until May1963. Joseph was a volunteer firefighter with the Monroe Volunteer Fire Dept, and later the Coventry, CT Volunteer Fire Department. After he moved to Upstate NY, he volunteered for the West Chazy, Fire Department, where he served for 17 years. He also served as an EMT for 5 years. He was especially proud of working on the recovery effort after the ice storm of 1998. Joseph worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 17 years, as a territory sales manager then a retail store manager. Joseph then opened his own cabinet shop for several years. He loved wood working and made kitchen cabinets, bedroom furniture, desks and matching file cabinets. He also worked at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY, for 12 years before retiring in 2003. There will be no calling hours.
