Leroy W. Haley, 78, of Meredith, passed away at the Wolfeboro Bay Center on Friday, August 29, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Born in Wolfeboro on August 8, 1936, he was the son of Delbert and Muriel (Roberge) Haley. Leroy was raised in Melvin Village, graduating from the Brewster Academy. He then went on to further his education at Boston College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business. For many years Leroy was a hairstylist owning his own shop in Laconia. He managed the E.M. Heath Hardware store in Meredith until its closing. He worked as a sales associate at Ippolito’s Furniture, in Meredith for many years, retiring from that position. In his life, Leroy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved spending time with his family and grandkids. His hobbies and interest include: interior design, gardening, working in his workshop, and camping. He is predeceased by his sister, Joyce MacDonald, and brother, Delbert “Skip” Haley. Leroy is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Darleen (Stearns) Haley, of Meredith; his son, Eric L. Haley and his wife Denise, of Alton Bay; four grandchildren, Christopher Haley and his wife Kathryn, of MA, Erin Haley, of Laconia, Deirdre Grad, of Gilford, and Mya Haley, of Center Harbor; his great-grandson, Jack Leroy Haley, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leroy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
