Bernice Winsor

Bernice A. Winsor, 91, of Franklin, formerly of Rumney, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Franklin Regional Hospital. Born at her family home in Rumney, on December 30, 1922, she was the daughter of Ivan and Vivian (Kenneson) Bixby. Bernice was raised in Rumney attending the one room school house in Quincy. She graduated from Plymouth High School, Class of 1941. In her life, Bernice loved flowers and gardening. She worked as a florist at Whittemore’s Floral Shop, in Laconia, as well as Drew’s Floral Shop, in Bridgewater. Bernice enjoyed hunting and fishing, was well known for her exceptional cooking, and loved spending time with her extended family. In 2004, Bernice retired to Golden Crest Assisted Living, in Franklin. She enjoyed many social activities with her friends such as listening to music, volley ball, bingo, and many bus trips. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jasper R. Winsor, in 2000, and her daughter, Carolyn Pease, of Wentworth, in 2011; she is also predeceased by her three brothers, Leon, Bernard, and Harold. Bernice is survived by her two children, daughter, Marilyn A. Ellsworth and husband Robert, of Sudbury, MA, son, Donald W. Winsor and wife Diane, of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Ila Keniston, of Rumney, and Janice Hutt, of Virginia; and a brother, Merle Bixby, of Canaan. Donations may be made in Bernice’s memory to Golden Crest, 29 Baldwin St., Franklin, NH 03235 Services will be private.
