Sarah Cameron Zick, 98, of River Edge, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013, in Laconia, NH.

Sally was born on March 15, 1915, in Liverpool, England to Robert and Bertha Cameron. She immigrated to America on November 11, 1924 with 4 of her siblings leaving one in England which kept her roots to England alive. All 8 of her siblings have predeceased her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Charles L. Zick, JR., married in 1941, moving to River Edge in 1949 after WWII .He died March 1981.

Sally had a great thirst for knowledge returned to school and graduated from Paterson State College, BA. Cum laude in 1964 and was employed by the Fairlawn Public School System where she taught 6th grade until 1985.

Sally served on many boards of the First Congregational Church in River Edge and served in many capacities as a deaconess. She taught Sunday school, was an advisor with the youth group for over 20 years and mentored confirmation students.

Sally also mentored others in other capacities such as Operation Understanding, volunteering her time with the youth of Paterson. She worked with a group of nuns from Bergen County for 8 years. Weekly they brought food and necessities to the homeless in Journal Square, in Jersey City, NJ. She also worked with Habitat for Humanity helping to rebuild homes and lives in Altoona, PA for many summers.

Sally spent her summers in Meredith, NH since 1971 where she delighted in Lake Winnipesaukee. There, many wonderful memories were made with many of her children, grandchildren, great- grandchild, relatives from here and England and her many wonderful friends.
Sally was a Loving mother of 4, her son, Robert W. Zick SR, predeceased her June 2011..

She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews, a grandmother of 10, Mathew & Jennifer predeceased her, and a great-grandmother to 4, as well as a friend to many.

She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn & Robert Fialko, of River Edge, NJ, their son Andrew, Linda and great grandchild, Andrew JR; her son, Charles L Zick III, of Denver CO his children Laura, Wesley & Jeremy; and her son, Donald & Ana Zick, of East Sandwich, MA, their children , Jacqueline Dubay & Allison; granddaughter Sara & Al Bartelloni, their children, Abigail, Chloe & Joseph and her grandson Robert Zick JR.

A “Celebration of Life” Service and burial will be held at the First Congregational Church in River Edge, NJ in the future. Date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, any Memorial Donations to The Capital Fund of of The First Congregational Church, 109 Continental Av, River Edge, NJ 07661, would be greatly appreciated.
