Sandra Poitras

Sandra Elizabeth Poitras, 69, of Groton Hollow Road, died June 27, 2015, at her home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Plymouth, NH on August 8, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Mary (Murdough) Sanborn. Sandra grew up in Rumney and graduated from Russell Elementary School, in Rumney and Plymouth High School, Plymouth, NH, in the class of 1963. She also graduated from Hesser Business School, in Manchester, NH. She has been a life-long resident of Rumney. Sandra worked as secretary for the Plymouth Police Department and for over thirty-five years as the clerk of Plymouth District Court, retiring in 2006. After her retirement, she worked for a short time as a Realtor for Peabody & Smith Real Estate. Sandra was a member of the West Rumney Baptist Church, in West Rumney. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing, skating, four wheeling, motorcycle riding, gardening, flying airplanes and traveling. She also enjoyed sewing, rug hooking, spending time with her grandchildren and her numerous dogs. She was a volunteer for CASA and had been a foster parent in past years. Sandra was predeceased by her sister, Barbie Sanborn and her brother Doug Sanborn, who died in January of 2014. Sandra is survived by her son, Arnold C. Poitras and his wife Tammy of Rumney, her daughter, Lisa A. Ball and her husband Chris of Wentworth, NH, several grandchildren, her mother Mary Sanborn of Rumney, her brother, Greg Sanborn and his wife Phoebe of Rumney, several nieces and nephews, and her significant other of twenty years, Dean R. Kenneson of Rumney.
