Bruce Heald

Bruce Day Heald, 79, of True Road, Meredith, died May 2, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia, after a brief illness. Born in Needham, Massachusetts on June 5, 1935, he was the son of Henry and Muriel (Day) Heald. Bruce grew up in Needham and graduated from Needham High School, class of 1954. He went on to further his education and graduated from; Boston University with an Associate’s degree in Arts, in 1956, the University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education, in 1959, Columbia Pacific University with both a Master of Arts degree, in 1984 and his Doctorate degree in Philosophy, in 1985. Bruce has been a resident of Meredith for many years. Bruce taught music in Inter-Lakes High School, Meredith, NH, Moultonborough Academy, in Moultonborough, NH, and Kennebunk High School, in Kennebunk, ME. He taught for over twenty years at the Immaculate Conception Apostolic School, in Center Harbor, NH. He was an Adjunct Professor in the History Department at Plymouth State University, and Professor at Babes-Bylyai University, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Bruce worked aboard the M/S Mount Washington Cruise Ship as the Chief Purser for over fifty years and was an author of forty books about the history and heritage of the Lake Region and the White Mountains. Bruce was a US Marine Corps veteran and had served in the early 1960’s. Bruce was a New Hampshire State Representative from 2005-2008. Bruce is predeceased by his wife, Helen (Peaslee) Heald, who died in May of 1994, his son, William H. Foristall III, who died in February of 2015. Bruce is survived by his sons Craig Heald and his wife Shelia of Center Sandwich, Eric B. Heald of Meredith, Allyson H. Collins and her husband Anthony of Lewiston, ME, nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren, his brothers, Henry Heald of Needham, MA, Douglas of Moultonborough, NH, his sister Doris Hopkinton of Matthews, NC, also many nieces and nephews.
