Eleanor Story (Owens) Potter, 64, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted and loving family at Dartmouth – Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Born on May 13, 1950, in Princess Anne, Virginia Beach, VA, she was the daughter of Elijah and Mammie (White) Owens. Eleanor resided in Virginia until the early 1980’s when she relocated to New Hampshire with her husband Gregory “Lance” Potter. She worked for Plymouth State University for 17 years until her retirement in 2002. Eleanor will be remembered by her family as a devoted and loving mother. Her passions included spending time with her children and grandchildren; as a devoted Christian she attended the Ashland Baptist Church, she lived everyday lead by her faith in God. Eleanor was well known for her incredible gift in cooking and baking, in particular her knack of creating delicious southern food dishes. She loved to share her food with others, always making sure that everyone had a full belly and was taken care of. She took great joy in long rides throughout the countryside, talking on the phone with family and friends, shopping, telling stories, trying new restaurants, going to yard sales during the summer, and most of all her love of music, specifically Marvin Gaye, he was her “Man”! Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Mable Price, Marilyn Wright, Viola Snowden, Barbara Owens, and her brother, Edward Owens. She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Gregory “Lance” Potter, of Plymouth; son, Keefer Owens and his wife Wendy Robb, of Plymouth; daughters, Mamie Potter, of Jaffrey, NH, and Taneeka Potter, of Plymouth; five wonderful grandchildren, DeVante Owens, of Plymouth, Olivia and Kiyanna Smith, both of Plymouth, Cord Barnes of Plymouth, and Nick Barnes, of Malden, MA; a brother, James Owens, of Yonkers, NY; a sister, Betty Woodhouse, of Virginia Beach, VA. Eleanor is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and will be dearly missed by her beloved dog “Beanz”.
