David Edward Royea, 77, of Route 25B, Center Harbor, died February 25, 2014 with his family by his side at home, after long illness. Born in Holderness, NH. on May 26, 1936, he was the son of Ibra D. and Agnes L. (Proctor) Royea. David grew up in Holderness and has resided in Center Harbor since 1958. He graduated from the Holderness One room School House, and from Meredith High School, class of 1955. David worked for over twenty years as a set-up operator at the former Laconia Needle Shop, in Laconia and for over twenty years as a custodian at Interlakes School District, Meredith. David had a love for the land and enjoyed farming and gardening. David was predeceased by his brother, Ibra, who died in January of this year, brother, Richard and sister Eleanor. David is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Joan M. (Fortier) Royea of Center Harbor, daughters, Kristina M. Huysmans, of Nashua, Lauria A. Stairs and her husband Timothy of Center Harbor, NH, son, David “Luke” Royea and his wife Kristin of New Hampton, four grandchildren, Kody, Mikayla, Madison, and Jacob, brother, Robert Royea and sister Margaret Earl, both of Holderness, numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes #3 and #104, Meredith, on Saturday 2pm to 5pm. A Spring graveside service will be held in the Center Harbor Memorial Park, Center Harbor.
