John William MacLeod, 80, formerly of Thornton, died November 29, 2013, at the NH Veterans Home, in Tilton.
Born in Melrose, MA on January 15, 1953, he was the son of John M. and Ruby (Robinson) MacLeod.
He grew up in Melrose and attended Melrose schools. He resided in Wakefield, MA for many years and moved to Thornton in the late 80’s.
John worked for many years as a machinist at the Continental Canning Company, in Malden, MA.
John was a World War II US Army veteran and was a Bronze Star recipient.
John was predeceased by his wife of sixty-two years, Frances (Calderaro) MacLeod, who died in January of 2007.
John is survived by his son, Robert J. MacLeod and his wife Mary of Thornton, daughter, Dr. Yael Schwartz and her husband Yuri of Holden, MA, grandchildren, Adam MacLeod of Thornton, Ilana Schwartz-Quigley and her husband Mike, great grandson, John E. Quigley, all of Needham, MA, and extended family, Joe Marobella.
A graveside service will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, NH Route #175, Thornton, on Wednesday, Dec. 4th, at 11am. The Rev. Edward J. Charest will officiate.
