David Mayhew

David William Mayhew, 48, of Davis Road, died courageously on August 20, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, after an eighteen week battle with Lymphoma.

Born in Plymouth, NH on January 16, 1964, he was the son of the late James Francis Sr. and Eileen Anne [Phippard] Mayhew.

David grew up in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School, class of 1982. He also was a graduate of Springfield College, Springfield MA, with a Bachelors of Science in Health Education and New England College of Mortuary Science at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA. He resided in Nashua for about ten years and has resided in Plymouth for most all his life.

He taught Health Education at Nashua High School for eight years. In 1995, he became a licensed funeral director at Mayhew Funeral Home until 2003. He most recently was employed by the Mount Prospect Academy, in Plymouth, as a LCCE Teacher and became the Day Student Coordinator. David had to leave his position at the school, of Academic Administrator, due to his illness. Early in his health education career, he had worked for a short time as an athletic trainer for the Boston Celtics.

David was a member of Holy Trinity Parish Saint Matthews Church, in Plymouth, and was a fourth degree knight of the Knights of Columbus Assembly #2478, in Plymouth and Bristol.

David is survived by his wife, Norma Jean [Aron] Mayhew of Plymouth, his children, Monica Mayhew, Emily Mayhew, William Mayhew, all of Edgewater, MD, his mother Eileen A. Mayhew of Plymouth, brothers, James F. Mayhew Jr, John R. Mayhew, both of Plymouth, Peter G. Mayhew of Holderness, sister Mary Anne Mayhew of Plymouth, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St. Plymouth on Thursday 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Trinity Parish St. Matthews Church, School St, Plymouth on Friday at 12pm. The Rev. Robert Cole, pastor of St. Katherine’s Drexel Church in Wolfeboro, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the David W. Frank Corliss

Frank F. Corliss Jr. passed away Saturday August 18th 2012 due to a fatal Motorcycle accident. He was born on October 16, 1961.

He was the Son of Norma Robarge, of Meredith and predeceased by his father Frank F. Corliss Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Corliss, of Meredith; brother, Bill Corliss, of Bristol; son, Jason Brown and his wife Cheryl, of Bristol; two daughters, Lindsay Nudd, of Gilmanton, and Michelle Corliss, of Meredith; three grandchildren, Deven and Adrieana Brown & Collin Riel. Frank is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

Frank lived for his family and the outdoors. He loved riding his motorcycle, and enjoyed the company of his many friends. Frank served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1978-1981. He was also an active member of the NRA and preached the second amendment. As a dedicated Outdoorsman he had a lifelong dream of moving to Alaska to live off the land. He will be greatly missed by all.

Everett Heath

Everett Carl Heath, 85, of Ashland, passed away August 19, 2012 at Speare Memorial Hospital, in Plymouth due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Born on January 9, 1927 in Brockton, MA, he was the son of Chester and Jennie (Combs) Heath. Everett served his country with honor and pride in the Army during WWII. During his life he was a very active parishioner at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, in Ashland.

He is predeceased by his wife, Irene A. (Alexander) Heath.

Everett is survived by his daughter, Lynne Rapoza, of N. Dartmouth, MA; three sons, Richard E. Heath, of Plymouth, MA, James A. Heath, of Hanson, MA, and Timothy E. Heath, of Brockton, MA; a sister, Florence Howard, of VA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his step-daughter Elizabeth Wallace, of Ashland.

David Robert Chiasson, 65, of Laconia, entered eternal rest on August 26, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Littleton, NH on July 28, 1947 to Demisson and Frances (Rigby) Chiasson David was raised and graduated High School in East Palestine, OH. He went on to attend the Kent State University in Ohio where he earned his associates degree.

In his life David worked as a machinist for the Quality Control Co., and the NH Ball Bearing Co., for many years. He attended and was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church, on Meredith Ctr. Rd, in Laconia.

He is predeceased by his sister, Jennie Martin and her husband Alan, and a brother-in-law, Leroy Thorpe.

David is survived by his children, daughter, Carol B. Chiasson, of Goffstown, and son, Demisson H. Chiasson and his wife Jennifer, of Belmont; sister-in-law, Sharon Thorpe, of Meredith; five grandchildren, Nicky, Parker, Demisson (D.J.), Kyle, and Ryan Chiasson; several cousins, a niece, Kimberley Thorpe, of PA; and his close and long-time friends, Paula Patuszak and husband Michael, and their children, William and Amy, all of Laconia.

Belle (Moore) Baker, 82, of Rumney, passed away on August 28, 2012, at the Mountain Ridge Center, of Franklin, after a period of declining health. Born on December 8, 1929 she was the daughter of Frank A. and Olive M. (Benjamin) Moore. She was an avid reader all her life. When she was a child, she read every book in the children’s section of the local library and then every adult book that interested her. She was a Girl Scout and child prodigy pianist. She and her tap dancing class were filmed for a movie while performing at the Brockton Fair. She graduated from Howard High School of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts in 1947.

Belle was married to Charles E. Baker, her high school sweetheart, at Cochesset Methodist Church in West Bridgewater, MA. Belle worked for Baker Construction Inc. for 25 years. Charlie said, “If you draw it, I’ll build it.” All their homes were different in style. Belle went to the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, graduating magna cum laude in two years. Her degrees were in English, music, and piano. All during her life she contributed to the community by being a pianist, Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout “Cookie Mother”, member of West Bridgewater Mothers’ Club, being named Mother of the Year in 1975. She supported free Masonry as the wife of Past Master and Past Commander. She had been a Rainbow Girl. Belle was a member of Dighton-Rehoboth Retired Teachers; Littleton Retired Teachers Association, and Lakes Region Retired Educators, where she invited Reeve Lindberg for a speaking seminar. Belle always enjoyed singing in the many churches wherever she lived: First Baptist Church of Brockton, Cochesset Methodist Church, West Bridgewater Baptist Church, Berkley Congregational Church, United Church of Assonet, all in MA, as well as both Campton Baptist and Ashland Baptist, of NH. Belle sang beside actress, Betty Hutton at a Yuletide concert by the “Saints and Singers”. She was a member of the “Battleship Cove Singers”, performing in Fall River, MA. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible school, elementary school in Berkley, Dighton, Rehoboth, and Assonet, and special needs children at Crystal Springs school. She was a member of the Aunt’s Club for the Home for Little Wanderers, of Boston, playing piano for special programs. Belle served in leadership positions in many organizations. Belle was active in many community events, such as, the Annual Policeman’s Ball at the Canoe Club. She bowled on a league with Charlie. She knit, sewed, embroidered, did needlepoint, oil painting, crafts, and ceramics. She learned cake decorating and made professional quality cakes, including three-tier wedding cakes. She canned and froze garden produce, such as corn on the cob, cantaloupe, and Harvard beets. She loved the ocean and feeding the songbirds. She and Charlie were very excited to meet Niles Nilson, caretaker of the “Old Man of the Mountain”. She traveled to Hawaii and played the piano at Queen Liliuokalani’s Church. She toured Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Germany with her friend, Patricia Park. She went to Alaska and Canada with her family. She never let anything stop her from doing what she wanted to do.

Belle is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles E. Baker.

She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Rebecca McCuin and husband Philip, son, Wayne Baker and wife Zanida, daughter, Susan Kominz and husband Bruce, son, Matthew Baker and wife Terese; brother, Frank A. Moore; cousin, Walda Brown Cameron (who was her flower girl); seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

John Dole

John Lovett Dole, 88, of Meredith, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, September 2, 2012.

Born in Campton, NH on November 14, 1923, he was the son of Roland I. and Larinia (Lovett) Dole. John was raised in Campton, attending the Campton Elementary school, graduating from Plymouth High School, class of 1941. John attended the Coyne Electric & Radio Trade School in Chicago, IL. John was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army; he spent three years in the Army Medical Corps., Camp Carson, CO.

John was employed with the Public Service Co., of NH for three years, was an electrician for the Plymouth State Fair for many years, and performed electrical contracting work as proprietor of his company, Dole Radio and Electric for ten years before becoming the Postmaster for the Town of Campton, retiring after thirty-two years of service. He was very active in the “National Association of Postmasters of the U.S.” where he held many state and national offices and held office of the Vice President of the New England States area for two years. John was also the superintendant of checklist, assistant town clerk, and town auditor for the Town of Campton; he was also a charter member of the Campton Volunteer Fire Department and held every office in the department throughout many years. John also served as Fire Commissioner for the Town of Campton. He was also the Civil Defense Director for thirty-six years.

John was a member of the Olive Branch Lodge of Masons for over forty-five years, a past member of OES – Plymouth, and also was a member of the Durand-Hailey Post American Legion, of Plymouth.

John loved travelling, skiing, and gardening.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Christine I. (Womack) Dole, of Meredith; sisters, Jean Hibbard, of Meredith, Sara Harris and her husband Ken, of Thornton; brother, David Dole and wife Alice, of Portland, CT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Judith Switzer

Judith Gulian Switzer, of Maple St, died August 31, 2012 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon, after a brief illness.

Born on December 22, 1934 in East Orange, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Grasse and Dorothy (Young) Gulian

Shortly thereafter her family moved to the Portland Maine area. She attended Deering High School and later attended Westbrook Junior College. In the fall of 1957, she married David C. Switzer of Portland Maine. Judith and David lived in several places including Vermont and Connecticut before settling in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

Judith was active in the community. She was a ski instructor at Tenney Mountain and then later at Cannon Mountain. Judith also coached the women’s tennis team at Plymouth State University from 1997 thru 2004.

She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-five years, David C. Switzer, who died in February of 2012.

Judith is survived by daughter Kate Switzer of Plymouth, NH, son Stephen Switzer and wife Lesley of Waterville Valley, NH, sister, Barbara Sawyer and her husband Tom of Falmouth Foreside, ME, and sister, Patricia Gulian of South Portland, ME, two grandsons, Max and Ian Switzer also of Waterville Valley, NH.

Meredith—–Roger R. Hutchins, 80, of 19 NH Route 104, formerly of Gilford, died at the Golden View Health Care Center on Monday, September 3, 2012.

Mr. Hutchins was born January 14, 1932 in North Conway, N.H., the son of Daniel and Felicia (Wisnewski) Hutchins. He grew up in Fryeburg, Maine and went to Fryeburg Academy. In 1948 he moved to Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1950.

Mr. Hutchins served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coral Sea. He had been employed at Weeks’ Dairy, Cushman’s Bakeries and JJ. Nissen, retiring in 1994.

Mr. Hutchins is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Annette (Carignan) Hutchins of Laconia; a son, James Hutchins, and his wife, Arline and their two children, Allison and Jacob all of Gilford; a son, John Hutchins, and his wife Denise, and their two sons, Benjamin and Jeffery all of Belmont; a daughter, Catherine Davis, and her husband, Brian, and their daughter, Hailey, all of Moultonborough; his sisters, Beatrice Traube and her husband, Martin, of North Carolina and Beverly Provencal and her husband, Raymond of Gilford, and special nieces, Stephanie and Mary Beth, and a nephew, Matthew. He was predeceased by his parents.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10AM on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H.

Walter N. “Rink” DeWitt (75), passed away peacefully on September 1, after a seven-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years Dorothy Collins DeWitt, their children Walter A. “Terry” DeWitt of Harvard, MA; William C. DeWitt of Barrington, RI; Kathryn DeWitt Nelson of Wolfeboro, NH and Cynthia H. DeWitt of Sarasota, FL; seven grandchildren and his sister, Nancy DeWitt Vittum of Tuftonboro, NH. He was predeceased by his older sister Joanne DeWitt Knight of Longmeadow, MA.

His endless energy, enduring optimism, and sharp business acumen enabled Rink to have a significant and positive impact on his family, the business community and many not-for-profit organizations. A magnet for family activity, the immediate and extended family was always drawn to Rink and his joy of multi-generational discussions of the day; and his home was always the center of family events.

The son of Walter Allen DeWitt and Helena Chittenden DeWitt, he was born in Arlington, MA. Rink was a longtime resident of New Hampshire first living in Ossipee and then on his uncle’s farm in Washington. He later settled in Melvin Village when he attended and graduated from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. After graduating from Dartmouth College, Rink served in the Air Force both in the United States in Florida and Texas, and in England as part of a joint mission with the Royal Air Force in Driffield. Upon returning to the United States, he attended the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College where he received a Masters in Business Administration. After joining The Manchester Savings Bank as a management trainee, he rose to the position of President/Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of what became The Bank and ultimately BankEast Corporation.

An outspoken advocate for business, he served on over 20 corporate and business association boards of directors, including: President of the New Hampshire Bankers’ Association, the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, The New England Council and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Brewster Academy; and played an active role in the development of Waterville Valley and Eastman.
After BankEast, Rink worked for The Manchester Group in Boston, MA, before starting his own outplacement and executive coaching firm, Executive Options, in Wellesley, MA.
Rink returned to the Lakes Region full-time in 1988 when he and Dotty acquired Sheridan Gardens in Moultonborough. In his retirement, Rink continued to stay active, serving on the Sandwich Fair Association board of directors and leading the capital campaign for The Barnstormers theatre.

Rink sought great adventure in his recreational time as well. As a private pilot, he earned his instrument and commercial ratings and enjoyed flying his Beechcraft Bonanza around NH and across America. An avid skier, golfer and outdoorsman, Rink spent countless hours enjoying New Hampshire’s lakes and mountains, climbing all 48 4,000 foot peaks in New Hampshire three-times, most after he turned 60. He also enjoyed their winter home in Venice, FL and the beauty of Siesta Key and the Florida Gulf Coast.

David M. Breault, 54, of Franklin, NH, passed away at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on Monday, September 3, 2012, due to injuries sustained in a Motorcycle accident.

Born on March 3, 1958 in Framingham, MA, he was the son of the late John and Ann (Plante) Breault. David moved to Meredith with his family at age 14 and graduated from the Interlakes High School, class of 1976.

David worked in the Aerospace industry for 24 years with the Lewis & Saunders Co. and the Smith Tubular Systems Co; he was currently employed at Scotia Technologies. David enjoyed spending time with is wife and his many friends golfing, camping, and riding his motorcycle; he and his wife just spent a 4 day weekend riding up the coast of Maine. David has been an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the past 28 years.

David is survived by his best friend and partner of 22 years, his beloved wife Donna (Morin Chadwick) Breault, of Franklin; sons, Adam Breault, of Moultonborough, and Matthew Breault, of Wolfeboro; step-daughters, Sarah Chadwick, of Laconia, and Becky Chadwick and Ricky Howard, of Laconia; step-son, Jeff Chadwick, of Belmont; brothers, John and Deborah Breault, of Wrentham, MA, and Edward Breault, of Harrisville, RI; sister, June and Jim Harger, of Upton, MA. David is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

Meredith—–Helen Hopkins, 95, formerly of 61 Timber Lane, Gilford, died at the Forestview Manor, Meredith on Monday, November 28, 2011.
Mrs. Hopkins was born November 4, 1916 in Fitchburg, Mass., the daughter of Walter J. & Flora B. (Haywood) Donahue. She was raised in Fitchburg, Mass. and graduated from the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, Mass. After graduation from nursing school, she was employed as a registered nurse at the Burbank Hospital. She later lived in Salem, N.H. for seventeen years before moving to Gilford N.H. in 1964.
Mrs. Hopkins was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Laconia, N.H.
Survivors include a son, Allen Hopkins, of Meredith and a brother, P. Paul Donahue, of Colorado. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hopkins was predeceased by her husband, Allen J. Hopkins, by two sons, John and Mark, by a daughter, Martha, and by a sister, Marjorie E. Lober.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 9:00AM at St. Andre Bessette Parish – St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will be in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, N.H.

MEREDITH, NH – Paul Joseph “PJ” McDonald, 54, of Meredith, NH, died Friday, February 17, 2012 while working in Center Harbor, NH.

He was born in Newfoundland, Canada, the son of Michael and Margaret (Wilson) McDonald. PJ worked for several years as a self-employed carpenter, most recently working for Planet Green Landscape. He took great pride in his accomplishments and his finished work. PJ was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and was a past member and officer of the NHMRO.

In addition to his parents of West Yarmouth, Mass., he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Valerie (Marcum) McDonald of Meredith, two daughters; Christine Keller and her husband Rob of Milford, NH and Michelle Kelly of Wilsondale, West Virginia, two brothers; Michael McDonald of Dedham and Kevin McDonald of and his wife Sue of Rehoboth, Mass., three grandchildren; Jake, Grace and Mary all of NH and nieces Emily, Hillary, Shelby and Rylee all of Mass.

He was predeceased by his brother, Brian McDonald.

Calling hours will be held from 11AM to 1PM on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. using the Carriage House entrance. Meredith—-French, Elizabeth Ann – Elizabeth Ann (Trufant) French, Age 94, of Meredith, NH and previously of Nashua, NH and Bedford, MA, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Golden View Health Care Center, Meredith, NH. She was born in 1917 in Nashua, NH, the daughter of the late Frank A. Trufant and Marion E. (Chase) Trufant.

She attended Nashua, NH and Marlboro, MA schools, graduating from Marlboro High School in 1936. She also attended the Chandler School in Boston, completing the Secretarial Course. Before her marriage, she was employed as a Secretary at the Nashua Card, Gummed and Coated Paper Company. Prior to living in Meredith, NH for 6 years and in Bedford, MA for 53 years, she was a resident of Nashua, NH. Betty was a 42 year member of the Bedford, MA Garden Club, achieving honorary status in 2004 for her work at the Job Lane Herb Garden; she also served as chairman of several committees, and was awarded a number of first prizes for arrangements. She was a former member of the Arlington Street United Methodist Church, Nashua, NH, where she was a charter member of its Questers Class, and a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, Bedford, MA. She was a ten year student at Miss Abbie Tilsley’s School of Dance in Nashua, NH and performed solo ballet recitals at different venues in Nashua, NH and Manchester, NH; she also taught ballet for a year.

She will be remembered for her deep love of family and family gatherings, and her fondness for family stories and humor; her extensive knowledge and love of wildflowers, flowers, gardens, birds and nature; her strength and determination, and for her integrity and sense of responsibility. She gave of herself to others, without any expectation of acknowledgement. She was especially proud of her New England heritage.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. French of Moultonborough, NH; her son, Richard S. French and his wife, Suzanne, of Rochester, NH; her dear brother, Richard F. Trufant and his wife, Regina, of Muncy, PA; a brother-in-law, John D. Meredith—–John J. Cote, 84, of 166 Winona Shores Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Friday, March 23, 2012.
Mr. Cote was born March 17, 1928 in Ashland, N.H., the son of John E. and Marjorie (Brasseau) Cote. He attended Boston College and Penn State and graduated from Plymouth State College with a B.A. Degree in 1959. In 1963, he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from New Mexico Highlands University. He resided in Meredith for forty-six years and was employed as a chemistry teacher at Laconia High School for twenty-six years before retiring in 1990. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Rosemary (Willey) Cote, of Meredith; a son, Kevin Cote and his wife, Heather, of Brandon, Florida; a daughter, Kathy Campbell, and her husband, Thomas, of Buford, Georgia; four grandchildren, Eric Cote, Rachel Cote, Colin Campbell and Andrew Campbell; a brother, Bernard Cote, of Brooksfield, Florida; two sisters, Irma Limoge and Betty Cote, both of Franklin and several nephews and nieces.

Sandra L. (Thompson) DeMarco, 56, of Norton, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA She was the beloved wife of Paul G. DeMarco, Sr., to whom she was wed on December 16, 1978.
Born in Meredith, New Hampshire on December 5, 1955, she was a dear daughter of Hazel (Avery) Eckhart of Laconia, NH and the late Victor Thompson.
Sandy grew up in Meredith and was educate in Meredith public schools. She had made her home in Norton for over 35 years.
She truly loved her job, especially visiting with the daily customers at Tedeschi’s in Norton, where she had been employed as an assistant manager for over 10 years.
When not at work, her favorite times spent were those in the presence of her family, especially with her adoring grandchildren. She also enjoyed outdoor activities, possessed exceptional cook skills and will always be remembered for her hard working ethics.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her devoted children; Traci J. Lord and her husband Michael of Norton, Paul G. DeMarco, Jr. and his wife Angela of Wareham and Toni-Marie DeMarco of Norton. The cherished grandmother of Hailee-Marie Lord, Cameron, Alex, Breann and Mikenna DeMarco, and twins Collin and Dillan Mueller, she is also survived by many siblings and their families.
A time of remembrance celebrating Sandra’s life will be held at a place and time to be announced. Visiting hours have been omitted and information regarding donations in her memory will also be announced.

Robert P. Noland, 49, died Saturday morning, March 31, 2012, at the Forest View Manor, Meredith.

He was born October 6, 1962, in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany, the son of Loren D. “Park” and Janet (Irish) Noland. He had been a long time resident of Maryland before moving to Meredith 25 years ago. He had served several years in the Army National Guard.

While living in Maryland, he was employed as a certified automotive mechanic. After relocating to Meredith, he was employed at Lewis & Saunders pressure testing pipes, then he worked at DM Management (now J. Jill) in the stockroom.

He had a strong interest in politics, taking pride in his Conservative Republican beliefs. He loved working on anything mechanical, especially fond of motorcycles and Ducatis. A natural artist with a keen talent for drawing, he also had a wide ranging taste in music, from punk to classical.

Bob is survived by his parents, Loren D. “Park” and Janet (Irish) Noland of Meredith; a brother, William P. Noland of Meredith; a sister, Kathryn N. Lynch of Ft. Lee, VA; four nephews; two great nephews; several cousins.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012, from 1-2pm, in the 1st Congregational Church of Meredith, 4 Highland St., Meredith, with services following at 2pm, with the Rev. Dr. Roland Russell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Wixson Memorial Garden, Gilford.

Meredith—-Esther May Carleton Wyatt, 97, died on April 11, 2012 at the St. Francis Home in Laconia, NH. She was born on June 13, 1914 in Okanogan, Washington, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude Carleton. She lived in Meredith most of her life and attended Meredith Schools.

Esther was predeceased by her husband of 72 years in 2008, Harold G. Wyatt. She was also predeceased by an older sister, Vada Hall. Esther is survived by her three daughters, Dawn and husband, John Dever of Meredith, Linda Lowery of Atlanta, GA and Rita and husband, Philip Polhemus of Meredith, NH. She had 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Daisy (Okie) Howe, NH Veterans Home, Tilton, NH and Kathleen Boyle, Peabody Home, Franklin, NH., and many nieces and nephews.

Esther had many interests. Among them were gardening, both flowers and vegetables, genealogy and making rugs. She also loved to write. This included histories of family members, a book about farm life, “Panfull of Knotholes”, and with her husband, a book called “Way Out There”. She was deeply interested in each member of her wide spread family and learned to use the computer at age 90, keeping in touch by e-mail with all of them. One of her accomplishments has been to keep a diary from the age of 11 to the present.

She was an active member of the Meredith Historical Society for over 35 years, serving in many positions. She was a member of the Meredith Early Birds Extension group and Town Historian with Harold. She volunteered at Golden View doing mending for the residents for 30 years.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 26, 2012 at 2 pm at the Meredith Community Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Meredith Historical Society, Box 920, Meredith, NH. 03253

Raymond A. Crocker, 86, of Pease Rd., Meredith, died Saturday morning, April 28, 2012, at the Laconia Network of Genesis Eldercare, Laconia.

He was born November 22, 1925, in South China, Maine, the son of the late Ivan and Rebecca (McArthur) Crocker. He was a long time resident of Northampton,MA, prior to moving to Meredith in 1979.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Company A of the 388th, with the Military Police. He was stationed in Germany and was part of the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an LPN with the State of Massachusetts – Department of Mental Health as an Occupational Therapist.

He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borremeo Church, Meredith, the Good Sam Club, and the Gunstock Travelers.

Ray is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marguerite M. “Jan” (Dupuis) Crocker of Meredith; a step daughter, Linda C. Hmieleski of Clermont,FL; a granddaughter, Jennifer Armor of Tennessee; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hour will be Thursday, May 10, 2012, in the narthex of St. Charles Borremeo Church, from 10 – 11 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11am. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Route 3, Boscawen.

Brien T. Gebo, 47, of Meredith, NH died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 27, 2012 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Meredith. He was born on March 28, 1965 in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Thomas J. and Carole D. (Clark) Gebo. Brien was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 1984. He loved hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. He was also an avid Harley enthusiast. Brien loved seafood and cooking, particularly when he could combine the two and have lobster or clam bakes. He enjoyed working with his hands, having a special touch when it came to working on mechanical things, especially engines. If it has an engine he could make it run. He was a genuine person and trusted friend who could be depended on. While intimidating in statue, Brien was a teddy bear when you got to know him. He will be sadly missed by his furry companion Cottonball and all the people whose lives he has touched. Snowball, his other furry companion has been waiting patiently to be reunited with Brien and his wish was granted.
He is survived by his three sisters, Nancy Berry and her husband Leon of Windham, NH, Elizabeth Jackson and her husband Gordon of New Hartford, Ct, Kellie Bartolucci and her husband Dean of Marlborough, CT, several nieces and nephews from Connecticut and New Hampshire, many aunts, uncles and cousins including his godmother Ann Bergeron of Methuen, MA and his godfather William Clark of Newton, NH. He was predeceased by one step-brother Conrad Warren.
Following cremation, A Memorial service will be held on Saturday June 2, 2012 at 2:00pm in the First Parish Congregational Church, 47 East Derry Road, Derry. All are invited to a mercy meal in the church hall following the service. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is assisting the family with arrangements. Meredith—–Roberta Mae Billings, 81, of 153 Parade Road, died at Forestview Manor on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Mrs. Billings was the widow of James E. Billings who died in April, 1973.
Mrs. Billings was born March 3, 1931 in Melrose, Mass., the daughter of the Ralph and Frances (Nickerson) Somes. She lived in Tilton, NH for several years before moving to Meredith five years ago. She had been employed by American Bankers Life in Concord.
Mrs. Billings loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed swimming, boating, golfing, gardening, hiking and country music.
Survivors include four daughters, Sue Veno and her companion, Gary Lyons, Debby Martin and her husband, Dan, Jan Barcelou and her husband, Brian, and Traci LaPlante and her husband, Albert; nine grandchildren, Carlie Couture, Jess Veno, Megan O’Brien, Katie LaPlante, Shane Martin, Tanner Martin, Michaela Barcelou, Justin Barcelou and Jake Barcelou; one great grandchild, Olivia O’Brien, and two brothers, Ralph Somes and Robert Somes. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her father, Ralph Somes and by her mother, Frances Grogan.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
